About Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
The iconic 13.35-meter-tall bronze statue of Amida Buddha, sitting outdoors in Kamakura since 1252. Unlike many temple Buddhas, this one has been exposed to the elements for centuries after a tsunami destroyed the building that once housed it. You can go inside the statue for a small fee — a unique perspective.
